July

Hi again! Here's my best-of for July...

I made a few Islamic architectural shapes so I can whip up built forms without having to paint them by hand each time... saving me heaps of time and grief! I should do the same with other building types...

Also did some cactus shapes and tried them out in this callout.

And to finish here are some of my favourites of the month:

Thanks for checking in! Here's a bonus one I'll probably never get around to finishing:

June

June is done... slowly slowly...

Its amazing how soon after I've finished something I despise it... I've got a long way to go still: need to slow down a bit and focus on design, mood, colour, shapes etc for a while. Maybe go outside and paint from life - with actual paint? Perhaps... ;)

While I'm here: some renders from the final poster of semester. A mix of rhino, V-Ray renders and Photoshop.

Tuesday 17 April 2012

Been rather busy since last post. Uni has started up again and has been rather hectic! Here's some things i've done:

1. Handed these concept posters up today. I was pretty happy with how they turned out and the tutor was pleased with the direction of the project. Lots of refining to do...

I had to teach myself Rhino, which was a slow and frustrating process and I'm still very much a novice. Had a lot of fun painting the two bottom images (which I actually did before any of the other stuff, which then informed the design).

2. I also was grateful to be asked to do the cover for a friend's book, Wilkinson IV. I built a quick sketchup model for him months ago and we only recently got together again to refine it and turn it into a front cover illustration with photoshop.

This also features inside of it, which I did absolutely yonks ago (you can tell)

You can totally buy Felim's book online too right here! Do it! It's criminally cheap!  http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/143396
In another month you'll also be able to get it on the Kindle and Apple store, so then there will be no excuse!

3. In what's left of my spare time i've been trying to continue drawing /painting. I'm starting to enter conceptart.org's environmental challenges. Here are the last two entries...

AT THE BANKS OF THE GLOWING RIVER

EARTH'S WOMB

Ill also throw on here some random sketches / thumbnails i've been doing to practice composition and design.

Finally ( long post...) I'll be posting some work I'm doing for a friend's business's website. Pretty exciting... my first paid commission!

Thanks for checking in
Tim.
